Serbian opposition figures Jelena Pavlovic and Zdravko Ponos face backlash over blockade rhetoric
Independent MP Jelena Pavlovic, formerly of Branimir Nestorović's party, criticized the Green‑Left Front and urged the opposition to hold its own rally after a blockade rally in Kraljevo on 28 June. Her comments sparked controversy, with Professor Čedomir Čupić accusing her of misleading the public by presenting herself as an “advocate” rather than a parliamentarian.
Separately, Zdravko Ponos, a prominent blocker and leader of the SRCE movement, posted a sexist tirade on X targeting female journalists and TV guests, using vulgar language. The remarks provoked public outrage and accusations of misogyny, highlighting deep divisions and inflammatory rhetoric within Serbia’s opposition circles.
