Serbian court silence on Ljubiša Stanković case fuels 'Ko si bre ti?' protests

The citizen group “Svi za jednog, jedan za sve” in Leskovac has repeatedly asked the Higher Court in Leskovac for information on the criminal proceedings against SPS MP Ljubiša Stanković. Their requests, filed in June 2026, have gone unanswered, and an appeal to the Commissioner for Information of Public Importance also remains without a reply. The group notes that the court had previously responded to similar inquiries within days, but has become silent since the public hearing was scheduled for 18 June 2026 and then postponed.

The activists have invoked the presidential “Ko si bre ti?” platform—launched by President Aleksandar Vučić for reporting abusive officials—to criticize both the president’s perceived overreach and the court’s lack of transparency. Students have echoed the slogan, questioning Vučić’s broad authority and demanding accountability. The criminal case, now nearly four years old, progressed from the basic court in Leskovac to the Higher Court on appeal. The group publicly asked Higher Court President Dejan Stamenković why the court no longer provides information on the case.

The protests highlight concerns over access to public information, judicial transparency, and the use of the “Ko si bre ti?” platform as a tool for civic scrutiny.
