Serbian Orthodox Church celebrates holy apostles

The Serbian Orthodox Church is observing a religious holiday honoring the holy apostles Silas, Silvanus, Crescens, Epaphroditus, and Andronicus, who are part of the group of the seventy apostles.

Silas traveled from Jerusalem to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas to resolve disputes regarding circumcision for new converts. He later served as bishop in Corinth. Silvanus preached alongside Peter and Paul and served as bishop in Thessalonica. Crescens served as bishop in Galatia and preached in Gaul before being martyred. Epaphroditus served as bishop in Carthage, and Andronicus, described by Paul as a kinsman and fellow worker, served as bishop in Pannonia.
