Serbian Orthodox Church commemorates Martyrs Tarach, Prov, and Andronik
The Serbian Orthodox Church is observing the feast day of the Holy Martyrs Tarach, Prov, and Andronik. According to religious tradition, these three Christians were martyred during the persecutions under the Roman Emperor Diocletian.
The martyrs, who originated from regions including Syria and Pamphylia, were brought before the Roman governor Numerius Maximus in Cilicia. Despite facing severe physical torture, including beatings and imprisonment, the trio refused to renounce their faith. Tradition holds that when they were cast into an arena with wild animals, the beasts became calm, prompting the governor to eventually order their execution by sword.
In addition to this specific feast, the month of November marks several significant religious observances for Orthodox believers in Serbia, including Mitrovdan, Đurđic, and Aranđelovdan, as well as the beginning of the Christmas fast on November 28.
