Serbian Orthodox Church commemorates Saint Bosiljka of Pasjane
The Serbian Orthodox Church and its faithful are celebrating the feast day of Saint Bosiljka of Pasjane. According to tradition, Bosiljka was a young woman from the village of Pasjane in the Kosovo Pomoravlje region who maintained her Orthodox faith despite intense pressure and threats of violence.
Tradition holds that she was targeted by local aggressors after refusing to renounce her faith or marry an individual who attempted to force her conversion. Despite facing physical torture and humiliation, she remained steadfast, reportedly stating, “I have my faith, and I need no better, for there is none better.” She was eventually killed near the Lapušnica River.
Her remains are preserved in the church in Pasjane, and she is venerated as a new martyr and a symbol of religious perseverance in the Kosovo region.
