Serbian Parliament continues emergency session, debates weapons law amendments

Parliamentarians in the Serbian National Assembly resumed an emergency sitting, asking questions on issues ranging from rural internet coverage and electricity supply to the selection process for the military academy and the draft law on parents and caregivers. The session, chaired by Ana Brnabić, follows an earlier meeting led by Marina Raguš, and includes a detailed review of more than 300 amendments submitted to a series of proposed bills. Of those, 176 amendments target the draft law on weapons and ammunition, while other items on the agenda address financing of political activities, environmental protection, doping in sport and the legal status of international sports federations.

Lawmakers also held separate discussions with a delegation from the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR) about Serbia's electoral process and future cooperation with the body. The emergency session, which began on 6 July, is set to continue the next day to complete the consideration of the amendments.
