Serbian Patient Set to Begin Russian Personalized Cancer Vaccine Therapy

Professor Vladimir Jakovljević of the Faculty of Medical Sciences in Kragujevac announced that the first Serbian patient is slated to start treatment with a Russian personalized mRNA cancer vaccine in the second half of August. The therapy, coordinated with Russian oncologist Sergej Boljević, is part of a limited program in which only two patients in Russia have so far received the vaccine, both showing a strong response.

The vaccine is currently registered in Russia for primary skin melanoma, including metastatic disease, and registration for lung cancer treatment is expected by early 2027. It employs mRNA technology similar to that used in COVID‑19 vaccines, aiming to stimulate the patient’s immune system to produce antibodies targeting a specific tumor identified through advanced diagnostics.
