Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic Announces Resignation Ahead of Upcoming Elections

President Aleksandar Vucic said he will resign from the Serbian presidency within the next three to four months because the constitution bars him from seeking a third term. In a radio interview he added that he is considering running for prime minister and will assemble a team of young, energetic people and students.

Vucic also confirmed that national elections will be held within the same three‑to‑four‑month window, though he ruled out a July or August vote. He began packing his presidential library, noting he will donate the 1,200 books purchased while in office.

The announcement signals a transition in Serbia’s leadership and sets the timetable for a new presidential and parliamentary election later this year.
