Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić Calls for Kosovo to Be Treated as Independent State

In an interview published by the Financial Times, Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said that Kosovo should be regarded as an independent country. He argued that the Western Balkans should pursue a joint accession to the European Union, stating, “If we all join together… there will be no borders between Belgrade and Pristina.” Vučić’s remarks suggest a shift from Serbia’s long‑standing refusal to recognize Kosovo’s independence and hint at a new approach to EU enlargement for the region.
