Serbian President Vučić Accuses Montenegro of Hybrid War, Podgorica Rejects Claims
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said on June 14 that Montenegro and its media are carrying out a "real hybrid war" against Serbia and claimed the country had taken 14% of Serbian territory by recognising Kosovo. He also warned that Montenegrin outlets played a major role in a colour‑revolution in Serbia.
Montenegro’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs called the accusations baseless, stressing that its independence was confirmed by a democratic referendum and is internationally recognised. The ministry said the statements reflect a lack of readiness among some Serbian political structures to accept Montenegro as a sovereign state and are part of a disinformation campaign aimed at diverting attention from Serbia’s domestic problems. It reaffirmed the desire for good neighbourly relations based on mutual respect and highlighted its progress toward EU integration and NATO membership.
