Serbian President Vučić Announces Early Cash Payment to All Adult Citizens Using Non‑Budget Funds

President Aleksandar Vučić said the state will distribute a cash payment to every adult citizen of Serbia earlier than expected, targeting mid‑September. He emphasized that the money will not come from the state budget but will be financed through new government borrowing. Vučić promised that the measure will improve living standards and expressed confidence that citizens will be satisfied.

Opposition figures warned that the plan amounts to borrowing against citizens and noted the country’s sizable budget deficit. Vučić also reiterated Serbia’s intent to continue its European integration path while highlighting relations with Kosovo, Russia, China and the United States.
