Serbian President Vučić Announces Major Railway Repairs from Kosjerić to Montenegro Border

President Aleksandar Vučić said the railway line from Kosjerić to the Montenegro border is in a very poor state. He highlighted the 210‑kilometre Valjevo‑Vrbnica section as crucial for western Serbia and noted that it has not been properly maintained since 1976.

Vučić announced the formation of a working group to accelerate repairs, estimating a cost of about €2 billion. He also referenced the newly built Unified Dispatch Centre, which now monitors roughly 540 km of track and will incorporate the Belgrade‑Subotica line within six months. The president warned that train delays of more than 45 minutes at the Prokop station could lead to frequent changes of railway directors, urging staff at Serbian Railways and the infrastructure company to improve punctuality and safety.
