President Aleksandar Vučić rolls out Banat infrastructure upgrades and urges national dialogue ahead of elections

President Aleksandar Vučić visited several towns in southern Banat, including Vladimirovac, Alibunar and Lapovo, to announce a series of infrastructure and social projects. He said the state will fund the reconstruction of public facilities, the building of new schools, the renovation of protected wells and the construction of a fast road linking Belgrade, Pančevo, Alibunar and Vršac, as well as the completion of the Belgrade‑Zrenjanin highway. Vučić also pledged three million euros for water‑supply improvements in Lapovo and announced a reduction in drug prices starting 1 August.

Alongside the development plans, Vučić repeatedly called for “dialogue” with political opponents, stating that “Serbia is strongest when united” and urging all parties to discuss election results and policy matters civilly. He described the upcoming campaign as having many phases, with the final stage “completely different” from previous ones. In parallel, Minister for European Integration Nemanja Starović reported that the European Commission gave a sixth recommendation on opening EU negotiation Cluster 3 for Serbia, while Vučić later noted that the EU will not open that cluster but that it should not deter Serbia’s European path. The combined messages emphasize infrastructure investment, price relief for citizens, a push for political unity, and ongoing EU accession negotiations.
