Serbian President Vučić condemns Montenegro's entry bans as Serbia imposes reciprocal restrictions

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić said he is saddened that Montenegro continues to bar Serbian citizens from entering its territory, recalling earlier bans on figures such as journalist Dragana J. Vučićević and poet Matija Bećković. He added that Serbian authorities have responded with reciprocal measures, including a ban on Montenegrin journalist and BIRN director Petar Komnenić, who was denied entry at Belgrade's Nikola Tesla airport and told he would be deported.

Komnenić said the ban was a retaliation for his critical reporting on Serbian media freedom and that he plans to challenge the decision in court. The exchange highlights rising political tension, with Vučić accusing Montenegro of “hybrid warfare” against Serbia, while Montenegro’s prime minister Milojko Spajić rejected the notion of reciprocal action and criticized the Serbian president’s statements as inflammatory.
