Serbian President Vučić urges expanded infrastructure cooperation with Montenegro

President Aleksandar Vučić told reporters at the EU‑Western Balkans summit in Tivta that Serbia is "very interested" in every kind of joint project with Montenegro, including roads, railways, gas and oil pipelines. He argued that the Bar port can generate significant profit only if it is linked to Serbian industry, which he described as the region’s strongest industrial base.

Vučić added that Serbia is ready to discuss cooperation in transport, tourism and broader economic ties, and offered to “extend a hand” to Montenegrin partners. He also commented on recent hospitality in Montenegro, accusing some media of spreading falsehoods, and referred to the UN‑backed resolution on Kosovo, noting Montenegro’s recognition of Kosovo’s independence as a point of contention.

The statements underline Serbia’s push for closer economic integration with its neighbour while highlighting lingering political frictions over Kosovo and public perception.
