Serbian Prime Minister Đuro Macut Announces 79‑Minute Beograd‑Subotica Train Service

Prime Minister of Serbia Đuro Macut said the railway line between Belgrade and Subotica can now be covered in 79 minutes after recent upgrades, marking a major reduction in travel time. He highlighted the launch of a new passenger train, dubbed “Soko”, and announced that nine new train compositions will be delivered for the Expo 2027 exhibition.

Macut stressed that railway development is a top government priority, noting billions of euros invested in the past decade and plans to extend fast services to Budapest within three hours. He also outlined broader ambitions to strengthen connections toward Niš, North Macedonia, Greece and western corridors linking Serbia with Italy and other European destinations.
