Serbian Prosecutors File Criminal Complaint Against Former Prosecutor Jasmine Paunović and YouTuber Dejan Lučić

The Higher Public Prosecutor's Office in Belgrade has filed a criminal complaint against former public prosecutor Jasmine Paunović and YouTuber‑host Dejan Lučić. The indictment alleges that during a July 21 broadcast the two speakers "grossly insulted, humiliated and incited hatred and discrimination" against members of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), the president, his family and other dissenters, and that Paunović also made ethnic‑based insults toward Black and Arab individuals.

The complaint lists two offenses – racial discrimination and another form of discrimination – with one act allegedly committed jointly by Paunović and Lučić and the other individually by Paunović. In response, Paunović told N1 she "does not know anything about the criminal complaint" and described the allegations as fabricated and being forced into legality. The case highlights tensions over media speech and political criticism in Serbia.
