Serbian prosecutors expand investigation into restaurant murder
Belgrade’s Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office (VJT) announced that, 30 days after launching the inquiry, it has ordered an expansion of the investigation into the May 12, 2026 killing of Aleksandar Nešović at the “27” restaurant on Senjak. The prosecutor’s office charged a total of 11 individuals with aggravated murder, illegal possession and trafficking of weapons, aiding the offender, and causing public danger. Primary suspects Saša V. and Mario S. are accused of jointly committing the homicide, while Danka V. is charged with aiding the murder by providing the firearm used.
The investigation revealed that Saša V. shot Nešović after a prior dispute, luring him back to the restaurant, and that the body was later moved to Jarkovac Lake, encased in concrete and buried. Additional suspects, including Nenad L., Dejan S., and others, face extended pre‑trial detention for up to 30 days to prevent flight, evidence tampering, or repeat offenses. Earlier statements linking Veselin Milić to the case were corrected; the prosecutor confirmed he was not present in the restaurant.
The case has drawn widespread public attention in Serbia and is ongoing, with further forensic examinations pending.
