Serbian Prosecutors Silent on Criminal Complaint Against Constitutional Court President Vladan Petrov

The opposition Stranka slobode i pravde (SSP) filed a criminal complaint against Vladan Petrov, president of Serbia's Constitutional Court, alleging that his public statements indicated that certain cases were being "put in a drawer" and that he delayed decisions on matters related to the 2023 elections. Four months after submitting the complaint, the Serbian prosecution office has not provided any information on whether it has taken action, prompting SSP to accuse the prosecutors of silence that undermines public trust in the judiciary.

SSP spokesperson Ana Gođevac warned that such inaction could affect the legitimacy of future elections, calling for the prosecutor to inform the public about the status of the case and to proceed without further delay, emphasizing the need for equal treatment under the law.
