Serbian Returnees Confront War Flags of Bosnian 'Army of BiH' in Krstno Polje
Theologian Nebojša Lazic said Serbian returnees and displaced persons arriving at a homecoming gathering in Krstno Polje near Maglaj were met by war flags of the self‑styled “Army of BiH” and Cyrillic signs that had been crossed out on the way through Bosniak villages. He noted that “Под том заставом су 1995. године похарана српска насеља на том подручју” (under that flag, Serbian villages were destroyed in 1995) and added, “То смо видјели 90‑их. Да би сачували породице, славе, огњиште, наши најмилији су дали животе.”
Lazic said the gathering, named “Krstno Polje‑Bakatić‑Bočinja‑Dolac,” was meant to show solidarity with the few Serbian returnees now under pressure, and warned that Serbian property is being sold off. He emphasized that the diaspora should remember the burned hearths and praised local hospitality, stating that hosts “износе гостима све што имају” (give guests everything they have).
