Karavanke tunnel closure and regional road works cause widespread traffic disruptions

Slovenian authorities will close the Karavanke tunnel to traffic from 22:00 on June 23 until 05:00 on June 24 for emergency maintenance. Drivers are advised to use alternative mountain passes such as Ljubelj, Korensko Sedlo and Rateče, while freight traffic will be diverted to the Šentilj border crossing.

In Bosnia and Herzegovina, a long queue of passenger vehicles built up at the Izačić border crossing, and several sections of the A‑1 motorway and other major roads are under repair, prompting diversions and temporary lane reductions.

Serbian road officials will carry out tunnel‑cleaning operations in the Klisura and Ključ tunnels on June 23, briefly switching traffic to alternating flow and imposing short full stoppages of no more than 30 minutes.

Slovenian traffic agency DARS warned of heavier traffic on the highway network ahead of the summer holidays and the state holiday, especially on routes to tourist centres and the Croatian border.

In Croatia, a reconstruction of a gas pipeline forces bus line 215 to bypass two stops on Vukomerec street, with the line operating on a revised route until the works are completed.
