Serbian President Vučić calls supporters to massive SNS rally on June 27

President Aleksandar Vučić invited supporters of the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) to a large rally in Belgrade on Saturday, 27 June. The event, promoted as a “listening” exercise, will give participants a ballot with 15 proposed topics—from health care and education to Kosovo and energy security—from which they will select five key demands.

SNS leaders, including party head Miloš Vučević, hinted that the rally could mark the start of the party’s pre‑election campaign and the announcement of a new electoral list. Independent observers and the NGO BIRODI described the gathering as a political‑marketing stunt rather than a genuine deliberative process, noting that only party supporters are expected to attend.

Attendance estimates vary widely: police figures put the crowd at about 34,300, while independent monitors claim between 180,000 and 190,000 people were present. The rally is presented as a counter‑move to recent student protests and anti‑government demonstrations that began in late 2024.
