Serbian ruling party SNS rolls out tent campaign as student list gains ground

The Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) has intensified its pre‑election outreach by setting up temporary tents and stalls in rural villages, a tactic described by sociologists as a “recycling” of the same campaign format in new settings. The approach aims to sustain its remaining voter base while countering the growing visibility of student‑led political actions.

A poll released by the New Serbian Political Thought (NSPM) research institute shows the newly formed Student List attracting 39.6% support, slightly ahead of the SNS’s 37.5%. Other parties hover around the electoral threshold, with the Socialist Party of Serbia at 4.9%. Commentator Đorđe Vukadinović noted that “Vučić is entering the electoral story without the usual guaranteed outcome.” The SNS strategy, featuring music, barbecue and party merchandise, seeks to offset the momentum of student protests that have been mobilising voters across the countryside.
