Serbian security officials issue appeal for constitutional loyalty
A group of 146 security service members, including former heads of the BIA, police, and VBA, has issued a public appeal to current police and security personnel. The signatories urge colleagues to remain loyal to the Constitution and the law rather than political will during a period of deep political crisis.
Key signatories include former BIA Director Saša Vukadinović, former Police Director Vladimir Rebić, former VBA Director Momir Stojanović, and former SAJ Commander Spasoje Vulević. The appeal emphasizes that official positions must be used to serve the state and protect citizens, not political parties or individuals.
The group stresses that no political interest or superior's order justifies breaking the law. They specifically highlight the importance of protecting the integrity of the electoral process, calling on officials to prevent voter intimidation, violence, and illegal changes to election results to ensure free and fair elections.
