Serbian singers share stories of personal hardship and mental health
Serbian singers Gordana Lazarević and Gabrijela Pejčev have shared personal accounts of overcoming significant life hardships and mental health challenges.
Gordana Lazarević spoke about a difficult childhood marked by poverty and the absence of her mother. After her parents moved abroad for work, she and her brother were left in a forest house with a caregiver. She described a period of extreme hardship, including limited food and the eventual loss of her mother in a traffic accident upon her return to the country.
Gabrijela Pejčev discussed her struggle with depression following the early loss of her father and the pressures of sudden fame at age 22. She emphasized the importance of family support and professional psychological help, noting that mental health remains a taboo subject for many in Serbia.
