Serbian Socialist Party endorses Ivica Dačić for presidency
Various city committees of the Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) have launched a campaign expressing unanimous support for party leader Ivica Dačić to run for the presidency of Serbia. Local branches in Kragujevac, Valjevo, Pirot, Žitište, Grocka, and Barajevo have all endorsed his candidacy, with some committees using the slogan “We are not traitors — with Ivica we are.” This move comes as the SPS prepares to run independently in parliamentary elections.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić responded to these developments by stating that the identity of the ruling coalition's presidential candidate will be discussed after the parliamentary elections are concluded. He remarked that “every beast shows its tracks,” suggesting that political intentions will become clear in due course.
In Montenegro, political scientist Nikoleta Đukanović analyzed Vučić's recent comments regarding Milan Knežević, the leader of the DNP. Đukanović suggests that Vučić may be attempting to bolster Knežević's voter base to increase his own influence within Montenegro. She characterized Vučić's involvement in Montenegrin political discourse as an interference in the country's internal affairs.
