Serbian tourists generate up to €500 million a year for Greece’s tourism sector

Serbian visitors are among the most frequent guests in Greece, especially in the northern regions such as Halkidiki, Thassos, the Olympian area, Lefkada and Corfu. Estimates suggest that 500,000 Serbian tourists travel to Greece each year. A typical four‑person family spends between €1,500 and €2,000 on a ten‑day holiday, while higher‑end trips can cost €3,000‑5,000. Multiplying average spending by the number of visitors yields an annual economic contribution of roughly €350 million to €500 million for the Greek economy. The revenue circulates locally through accommodation owners, restaurants, fuel stations, retailers and service providers, making Serbian tourists a reliable source of income even when broader economic conditions are uncertain.

The consistent flow of Serbian holiday‑makers helps stabilize the tourism market in northern Greece, where many families use their own cars to reach the coast, reducing travel costs and reinforcing repeat visits year after year.
