Serbian Traffic Police modernize with drones and body cameras

The Serbian Traffic Police is entering a new phase of modernization through the introduction of body cameras, drones, and Android devices for data verification and offense recording.

Bojan Markovic, Assistant Head of the Traffic Police Administration, stated that the goal of this digitalization is to shorten administrative procedures, increase road safety, and save lives, rather than simply increasing the number of fines issued. The initiative follows the implementation of a central offense processing system two years ago, which has since been linked to eGovernment and external automatic detection systems.

So far, 900 Android devices have been distributed across all administrations, with more expected to ensure all field officers are equipped. These devices allow officers to pull data directly from the system to automatically create necessary forms, reducing repetitive paperwork. Officers will have access to specific legally authorized information, such as driver's license details, vehicle registration, and urgent warrants. The system also includes automated checks, such as notifying an officer if a driver meets the criteria for temporary vehicle seizure based on previous offenses.
