Serbian veterinary inspection pulls nearly 6 tonnes of meat from market

The Veterinary Inspection conducted 215 official controls between 1 January 2025 and 29 June 2026 in the municipalities of Tutin, Novi Pazar and Sjenica. The inspections covered slaughterhouses, processing facilities, warehouses, retail outlets and unregistered operators.

The action resulted in 86 corrective decisions, 31 orders to destroy products, 10 bans on activity and 16 complaints against unregistered operators. About 5,976 kg of meat was withdrawn from circulation – 5,868 kg seized from unregistered subjects and 108 kg from retail stores. Laboratory tests of 147 sampled meat products showed they met microbiological standards. Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Water Management Dragan Glamočić said the state will not tolerate illegal food trade and that inspections will be intensified nationwide.
