Serbia's EU Path Hindered as Reform Demands Grow Ahead of Summit

The National Movement of Serbia (NPS) said a joint proposal from France and Germany presented at the EU‑Western Balkans summit offers a chance for Serbia, but progress on accession has stalled under President Aleksandar Vučić. The group warned that key reforms—strengthening the rule of law, media freedom, fair elections, independent institutions, and a fight against crime and corruption—are essential for citizens’ daily lives.

Meanwhile, the Freedom Citizens' Movement (PSG) launched the “European Cities” campaign to illustrate concrete benefits of EU membership. The first event in Belgrade highlighted Budapest’s development after joining the EU and argued that EU funds could improve public transport, schools, clean air and infrastructure in Serbia. PSG leaders stressed that European integration should be measured by everyday improvements rather than bureaucratic negotiations.
