Serbia's Government Survives No‑Confidence Vote, Early Election Options Discussed

The Serbian parliament failed to pass a motion of no‑confidence against the ruling cabinet, allowing Prime Minister Aleksandar Vučić's government to remain in power. Legal scholar Vladan Petrov outlined four possible paths forward: the government could continue its term, resign and be replaced within 30 days, see the prime minister step down prompting a parliamentary dissolution and snap elections, or the president could request a dissolution of parliament and call early elections. Political analyst Aleksandar Ivković and others consider the latter scenario the most constitutionally logical.

Separately, University of Belgrade professor Milo Lompar warned that while a change of government is theoretically possible, the current regime is prepared to make concessions to foreign actors to stay in power, describing the opposition as weakened and urging a broad civic platform for future reforms.
