Serbia's PIO Fund to Raise Pensions Before Year-End

The state pension fund PIO held a forum in Pančevo attended by about 320 retirees, discussing the protection of seniors’ consumer rights and an upcoming increase in pension payments. Minister Jagoda Lazarević said pensioners will be shielded from abusive traders and urged them to learn about consumer protection.

Director Relja Ognjenović announced that the exact percentage of the pension raise will be disclosed soon and that the higher payments will be disbursed before the end of the year. He cited the fund’s commitment to return €377.2 million to retirees after decades of contributions. Ognjenović also said a media conference will be organized in roughly one to one‑and‑a‑half months to present new discount programs for pensioners. President of the Serbian Pensioners’ Association Andreja Savić highlighted the strengthened cooperation between PIO and the association.
