Pusula Holding Chairman Serdar Turhan arrested in capital markets probe

An investigation by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office into capital market irregularities has resulted in the arrest of 34 individuals. The probe, conducted by the Bureau for the Investigation of Crimes of Financing Terrorism and Money Laundering, targets several companies including Pusula Finans Holding, Tera Yatırım Menkul Değerler, Hedef Holding, and Bulls Yatırım Menkul Değerler.

Serdar Turhan, Chairman of Pusula Holding, was among those detained. In his testimony, Turhan denied involvement in the management of Pusula Portfolio Management Company following its transfer to Muhammed Yarız and a new team. He claimed the company's size was approximately 30 million TL at the time of transfer and stated he had no knowledge of subsequent transactions. Regarding bank movements totaling 74.2 billion TL identified by prosecutors, Turhan argued the volume resulted from the same funds circulating between various accounts and companies.

Authorities have seized assets linked to the investigation, including two private jets belonging to Muhammed Yarız and Emre Tezmen, and a luxury yacht owned by Serdar Turhan, with an estimated total market value of 1.8 billion TL. The investigation follows decisions by the Capital Markets Board (SPK) to liquidate 131 investment funds from seven portfolio management companies due to default.
