Serena Williams Returns to Wimbledon Doubles with Sister Venus

Serena Williams, aged 44, has resumed professional tennis after a four‑year break, first appearing at the Queen’s Club Championships in London where she partnered Canadian teenager Victoria Mboko for a winning doubles debut. She said the decision was driven by her daughter Olympia and encouragement from sister Venus and skier Lindsey Vonn.

The Williams sisters have been granted a wildcard entry into the women’s doubles draw at Wimbledon 2026, marking their first Grand Slam partnership since Serena’s retirement announcement in 2022. The pair have previously won six Wimbledon doubles titles and 14 major doubles crowns together. Organisers still have one singles wildcard unallocated, leaving the possibility that either could also contest the singles event.

Serena’s comeback follows a surprise return video and remarks that she feels ready to compete again, while her family, including husband Alexis Ohanian and daughters, watched her Queen’s Club match. The wildcard ensures the iconic duo will compete on the historic grass courts of the All England Club later this month.
