American tennis star Serena Williams, 44, is set to return to doubles competition after a four‑year hiatus by partnering with Czech player Karolina Muchova at next week’s grass‑court WTA event in Berlin. Muchova, currently ranked No. 10 in the singles rankings and No. 159 in doubles, said it is rare to play doubles with a player of Williams’s stature. Williams, who recently competed in doubles at Queen’s Club with Victoria Mboko before their partnership ended due to Mboko’s knee injury, expressed enthusiasm for the Berlin tournament, noting the appeal of playing in front of German fans. The pairing is expected to compete on Tuesday or Wednesday, with both athletes also eyeing the upcoming Wimbledon Championships, and Williams has hinted a singles comeback could be considered later in the season.
