Serena Williams to Play Singles at Wimbledon After Four-Year Hiatus

Serena Williams, the 44‑year‑old 23‑time Grand Slam champion, has confirmed she will compete in both singles and doubles at this year’s Wimbledon. The All England Club awarded her the final women’s singles wild‑card, allowing her to bypass the usual qualifying process. Williams, who retired from singles competition in September 2022, will partner with sister Venus in the doubles draw.

Williams last appeared in a Wimbledon singles match in 2022, exiting in the opening round. Since then she has played several doubles matches in Germany and Berlin, with mixed results. The comeback marks her return to Grand Slam singles after a four‑year break, adding to her record of seven Wimbledon singles titles and 14 doubles titles with Venus.
