Serena Williams' Wimbledon comeback ends as Maya Joint wins

Australian teenager Maya Joint defeated eight-time Grand Slam champion Serena Williams in the third round of Wimbledon on 1 July, halting the 44‑year‑old's comeback bid. Joint won 6‑3, 6‑7(6), 6‑3, breaking Williams' serve five times and recording ten aces.

Williams, playing her first Wimbledon singles match since 2022, saved a match point in the second‑set tiebreak before losing the final set. After the match, Williams praised the experience while Joint expressed amazement at competing against a legend.
