Serengeti safari vehicle plunges into crocodile-filled Mara River

A safari vehicle carrying four Swiss tourists and a Tanzanian driver plunged into the Mara River in Serengeti National Park, Tanzania. The incident occurred during the Great Migration as the vehicle was reportedly speeding across rough terrain to secure a better view of wildebeest crossing the river.

Witnesses captured footage of the Land Cruiser losing control, causing passengers to fall out before the vehicle entered the water, which is known for its high concentration of Nile crocodiles. The Tanzania National Parks Authority (TANAPA) confirmed that all occupants managed to exit the river safely and no injuries were reported.

Following the accident, TANAPA issued a warning to drivers, visitors, and tour agencies to strictly adhere to river crossing regulations and follow ranger instructions to protect lives and minimize wildlife disturbance. Local reports suggest that safari guides sometimes race one another to reach animal sightings first.
