Serentica Renewables commissions 200 MWh battery storage project in Bikaner, India

Serentica Renewables, the Vedanta‑backed renewable platform, has commissioned the first 200 MWh phase of its planned 1 GWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Bikaner, Rajasthan. The system will store surplus solar and wind generation during the day and discharge it during peak demand, enabling round‑the‑clock clean electricity for industrial consumers.

CEO Akshay Hiranandani said the project demonstrates how battery storage can convert intermittent renewable power into reliable 24‑hour supply and supports one of the world’s first time‑block‑based renewable power arrangements for industry. Serentica plans a 7 GWh storage pipeline over the next two years and has already signed a power purchase agreement with NTPC Ltd to supply 200 MW of firm‑dispatchable renewable energy to Uttar Pradesh distribution companies.
