Sergei Bobrovsky signs three-year deal with Toronto Maple Leafs
Goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky has signed a three-year, $21 million contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs after failing to reach a new agreement with the Florida Panthers. The move follows Bobrovsky's successful tenure in Florida, where he helped the team win consecutive Stanley Cup championships in 2024 and 2025.
Bobrovsky expressed his gratitude to Panthers fans via social media, stating, “Two cups behind us, so many beautiful moments in Florida and most importantly the love and support of the fans.” He noted that while he initially expected to remain in South Florida, he is looking forward to the “new phase” and the opportunity provided by the Maple Leafs.
The Florida Panthers have moved on by acquiring Jacob Markstrom and Akira Schmid. Bobrovsky's departure marks the end of a seven-season stint with the Panthers, during which he signed what was then the largest contract in the franchise's history.
