Sergei Tsikhanouski accuses wife of exploiting his image for grants
Sergei Tsikhanouski, a Belarusian blogger, has publicly accused his wife, Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, of using his popularity and image to secure international grants and support. In recent livestreams conducted from the United States, Tsikhanouski criticized his wife’s political team, alleging they have exploited his identity to gain funding from Western partners.
Tsikhanouski claimed that Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya’s political legitimacy was built on his reputation after he was denied registration as a candidate by the Central Election Commission. He further alleged that her staff has used personal family matters, including their son’s health issues, to manage her public relations and has attempted to rewrite history to portray her as a long-standing activist.
Sergei Tsikhanouski is currently living in the United States. He was previously released from prison following a meeting between Alexander Lukashenko and a special envoy of the U.S. President. Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya has not issued a formal response to these allegations.
