Matej Deket receives first Bosnia and Herzegovina national team call-up

Seventeen-year-old Borac striker Matej Deket has received his first call-up to the Bosnia and Herzegovina senior national football team. Head coach Sergej Barbarez included the Banjaluka-born forward in the squad for the upcoming Nations League fixtures against Sweden and Romania in November.

Deket, who has scored six goals this season, received the news shortly after scoring in a Conference League match against KuPS. The call-up is seen as a significant step in his career and effectively secures his future with the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team, following previous interest from the Serbian Football Association.

In addition to Deket, Barbarez has also called up Dženis Burnić to the squad. Bosnia and Herzegovina is scheduled to play Sweden on November 14, followed by a home match against Romania in Zenica on November 17.
