Sergej Jakirović faces post-match tension after Hull City loss to Newcastle
Hull City manager Sergej Jakirović experienced his first league defeat of the season following a 2-1 loss to Newcastle United at St James’ Park. After falling behind 2-0 early due to goals from Joe Willock and Lewis Hall, Hull mounted a comeback attempt led by Mohamed-Ali Cho, but were unable to secure a draw.
Following the final whistle, tensions escalated as Jakirović reportedly attempted to approach the Newcastle coaching staff. Witnesses and photographic evidence indicated that individuals had to physically restrain him to prevent a confrontation. The specific cause of the post-match tension remains unconfirmed.
Prior to the match, Jakirović had been recognized for a strong start to the season, which included victories over Manchester United and Coventry, as well as a draw against Chelsea. He recently became the first Croatian manager to be named Premier League Manager of the Month.
