Sergej Jakirovic named Premier League Manager of the Month

Hull City manager Sergej Jakirovic has been named the Barclays Premier League Manager of the Month for August. The 49-year-old Bosnian coach becomes the first manager from Bosnia to receive the award in Premier League history.

Jakirovic secured the honor following a strong start to Hull City's campaign in the top flight. The team achieved two victories in August, including a 2-0 win against Manchester United and a victory over fellow newly promoted side Coventry City. In their first three matches, the club remained undefeated and did not concede a single goal, eventually adding a draw against Aston Villa to their record.

Jakirovic was selected through a combination of fan votes and jury evaluations, beating out other prominent managers including Mikel Arteta, Xabi Alonso, and Enzo Maresca. He is only the third manager in Hull City's history to win this monthly award.
