Sergey Lavrov blames EU and US for energy market instability
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated in Tehran that the European Union and the previous US administration are responsible for the crisis in global energy markets, rather than Russia.
Following discussions with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, Lavrov also addressed the conflict in Ukraine, asserting that Moscow does not target civilian infrastructure unless the facilities are directly used to supply the Ukrainian military.
During the meeting, both ministers discussed Middle East stability and bilateral relations. Araghchi accused the United States and Israel of creating regional insecurity through conflict and economic blockades, specifically citing instability in the Strait of Hormuz. The ministers noted that economic cooperation between Russia and Iran is progressing steadily.
