Sergey Lavrov claims US expanded influence following September 11 attacks

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that the United States utilized the global reaction to the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks to expand its international influence under the pretext of fighting terrorism.

Lavrov noted that this expansion manifested in various regions, including Afghanistan, Iraq, and Libya. The remarks coincide with the anniversary of the attacks, which involved hijacked planes striking the World Trade Center in New York, the Pentagon in Washington, and crashing near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
