Sergey Lavrov warns of devastating war if Europe attacks Russia

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has issued a warning regarding potential conflict between Russia and Europe. Speaking to journalists at the United Nations General Assembly in New York, Lavrov stated that while Russia has no intention of fighting Europe, he accused European leaders of rapidly preparing for an armed conflict, with some aiming to be ready by 2030.

Lavrov warned that if Russia were attacked, the resulting war would be “short and devastating,” alluding to the potential use of nuclear weapons. He cautioned that the massive investments in weapons production by European nations could lead to an escalation driven by political elites.

Additionally, Lavrov met with German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul, marking their first direct meeting since the 2022 invasion of Ukraine. During these discussions, Lavrov accused Germany of moving toward the creation of a “Fourth Reich.”
