Sergey Lavrov warns of ‘very short’ war if Europe attacks Russia

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has stated that Russia does not intend to enter into any security agreements with European nations. Speaking at the International Youth Festival, Lavrov asserted that Moscow will not sign treaties regarding areas essential to Russia's national security.

Lavrov issued a warning regarding potential conflict, stating that while Russia has no interest or intention of attacking the West, any European decision to attack Russia would result in a ‘very short’ war. He expressed hope that this warning would be heard by European capitals and institutions.

In response to these tensions, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen emphasized that Europe must prepare for a ‘cold and fragile world’ that is openly hostile. She stated that the European Union is prepared to defend ‘every meter of its territory’ amidst ongoing territorial aggression on the continent.
