LA Galaxy sign Sergi Roberto and Hirving Lozano
The LA Galaxy has significantly bolstered its roster with two high-profile signings. The club announced the acquisition of veteran Spanish midfielder Sergi Roberto as a free agent. Roberto, 34, joins from the Italian side Como 1907, following a long and decorated career at FC Barcelona where he won 25 titles. His contract runs through June 30, 2028, with an option for the 2028-2029 season, pending his P-1 visa.
Additionally, the Galaxy has secured Mexican winger Hirving “Chucky” Lozano on loan from San Diego FC until December 2026, with an option to make the transfer permanent. Lozano, known for his performance in the 2018 FIFA World Cup, adds explosive speed and experience to the attacking lineup.
LA Galaxy General Manager Will Kuntz highlighted the importance of these moves, stating that Roberto brings "a combination of leadership, technical quality, tactical intelligence and winning experience that few players possess." These signings join other established players such as Marco Reus and Riqui Puig as the club attempts to improve its standing in the MLS Western Conference.
