Sergio Agüero linked to international narcotics investigation

Former Argentine footballer Sergio Agüero has been mentioned in an Argentine investigation into an international narcotics and money laundering network. The investigation follows the arrest of Pablo “Bebote” Álvarez, a former leader of the Independiente supporters' group, who is accused of managing a criminal organization involved in trafficking synthetic drugs from Spain and cocaine from Bolivia.

Agüero’s name appeared in seized communications and documents, specifically regarding his esports organization, KRÜ. Criminal elements allegedly attempted to exploit his brand by proposing a platform called “KRÜ Tickets” to facilitate ticket sales, which investigators suspect could have been used as a front for laundering drug proceeds.

Representatives for Agüero stated that the former striker rejected all such proposals after vetting the parties involved. While his name appears in chats and documents, authorities have noted there is no evidence he was aware of the criminal connections or participated in illegal activities. Investigators suggest that members of the cartel may have used false identities when communicating with him.
